Love the potted trees.
I’ve been working on some ginseng ficus, one about 12 years old, and a 7 year old clipping (clone).
The clone was a clipping from a trimming session, I put a large piece that I couldn’t see myself tossing away. So I put some rooting hormone on the cut placed it in a flower vase and water for 5 years, when I potted it I held 1/3 of the root system above the mix. It has a heavy 3 foot trunk with just a few small branches.
I have a question, I want to split the trunk and braid it without splitting through the top. Do you have any advice on the split?
Thank you, Matt.

Well Matt, that’s not something we do in bonsai usually but I would wrap the sections tightly in raffia (get it at a crafts store, soak it in water before you wrap) just to help the split ends heal and to give strength to the wood so it doesn’t break when you braid. The raffia will rot away after a while and you can pick it out later.
Good luck
